Chikako Kondo

Part-time lecturer at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music and Showa Academia Musica, and musician with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra.

After graduating Tokyo University of the Arts Music High School, Chikako Kondo graduated top of the class in the music department of Tokyo University of the Arts in 2005. She has received the Ataka Award and the Acanthus Music Award. She has also won 2nd place in the 78th Japan Music Competition. In the 22nd Japan Woodwind Competition she won 1st place and the audience’s choice award. She has so far studied clarinet with Syuhei Isobe, Masaharu Yamamoto, and Yuji Murai. In 2013 she completed a master’s program at London’s Royal Academy of Music, as an Affinis Arts Foundation international student. While still at school, she studied clarinet with Chris Richards, and E-flat clarinet with Chi-Yu Mo. She has performed as a guest with the London Symphony Orchestra, and is currently a clarinetist for the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. She is a seasonal member of the Yokohama Sinfonietta, and a part-time lecturer at the Dolce Academy, Senzoku Gakuen College of Music, and Showa Academia Musica.
