In 2000, Wang Long was admitted to the Affiliated Elementary School of Wuhan Conservatory of Music, studying under clarinet educator Professor Wang Qichen, and won first place in the clarinet category at the 2nd TOYOMA Asian Youth Music Competition (Henan Region). In 2003, Wang Long advanced directly to the Affiliated High School of Wuhan Conservatory of Music, ranking first in the orchestral music program.
In 2010, Wang Long was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music with outstanding results, studying under clarinet educator Professor Yuan Yuan. During this period, he served as principal clarinetist of the China Youth Symphony Orchestra and was recognized and supported by the “Edifier Musician Fund,” winning numerous awards in significant domestic and international competitions.
In 2012, Wang Long achieved fourth place at the 42nd Belgrade International Youth Clarinet Competition. In 2014, he won first place at the Hong Kong International Youth Clarinet Competition. At the Central Conservatory of Music, Wang Long collaborated with orchestras such as the China Philharmonic Orchestra, China National Symphony Orchestra, Central Ballet Symphony Orchestra, and Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra, and participated in exchanges with renowned music institutions and top orchestras in countries including Germany, the United States, Italy, and Japan, gaining prominence at major events such as the 1st China Opera Festival. In 2014, through intense competition, Wang Long joined the Central Ballet Symphony Orchestra, quickly rising to the position of deputy principal clarinetist and becoming a member of the Wotan Woodwind Quintet. In April 2018, as a member of the Chinese Art Troupe, he visited North Korea to perform at the 31st “April Spring” International Friendship Art Festival. In 2019, Wang Long participated in major performances celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and toured nationally with the Wotan Woodwind Quintet, receiving high praise.
