Soushi Nakadate

Principal player of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra.

Kei Kusunoki graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, in the Faculty of Music. At the 87th Music Competition of Japan, Nakadate won 1st place, the Iwatani Award (audience award), the Segi Award, and the E. Nakamichi Award. He also won 1st place at the 33rd Japan Wind and Percussion Competition, as well as the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award, the Tokyo Governor Award, and the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra's Special Award. Nakadate placed 2nd at the 22nd Japan Woodwind Competition, and the 26th Takarazuka Vega Music Competition. He was awarded the Parthenon Tama Prize at the 6th Young Clarinetists Competition. While studying at Tokyo University of the Arts, he was awarded the Ataka Prize. He has performed as a soloist with the Geidai Philharmonia, Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic, and Central Aichi Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Junichi Hirokami, Ken Takaseki, Kazumasa Watanabe, Masahiko Enkoji, and Yoko Matsuo. He was a recipient of the 2013 Aoyama Foundation scholarship. Nakadate appeared on NHK-FM's Recital Nova and the Tokyo Opera City Recital Series, B→C. He also participated in the Tokyo Spring Music Festival, and the Kiso Music Festival. He has studied clarinet under Rie Arima, Jun Tsukimura, Kaoru Eimura, Masaharu Yamamoto, and Kei Ito. Nakadate is a Part-time lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts and Senzoku Gakuen School of Music, and a contract instructor for Buffet Crampon. After working with the New Japan Philharmonic, he became the Principal clarinetist of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra.
