Tomoro Kodama

Ryukoku University Symphonic Band coach and part-time lecturer at Soai University music faculty.
Tomoro Kodama graduated from Osaka College of Music. He was awarded first-class honors unanimously by the examiners at École Normale de Musique de Paris in the clarinet department, was awarded the national advanced performer qualification, and graduated as top of the class. He also received a unanimous first-class award in the chamber music department of the same university, certifying him as a performer, while at the same time receiving a special honorary diploma, again graduating at the top of his class. While living in France, he has taken an active role in holding recitals, while also broadening his work in chamber music and orchestra performances.
In addition, he is broadening his activities by teaching younger students and serving as a competition judge, while also actively playing classical instruments (instruments and replicas used in the classical period) and modern ones. In 1993, he received the Buffet Crampon Honorable Mention Prize at the 8th Europe-Japan Music Course. In 1999, he won first place and an honorary award at the Paris UFAM International Music Competition. He has studied clarinet with Koichi Hamanaka, Kouichi Honda, and Guy Deplus, and in chamber music, he has studied with Nina Patalczyk. He is the coach for the Ryukoku University Symphonic Band, and lectures part-time at Soai University music department.
