Yasue Sawamura
Clarinet
Professor at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, former deputy principal player of the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, and part-time lecturer at Musashino Academia Musicae and Nihon University College of Art.
Yasue Sawamura graduated from Hyogo Prefectural Nishinomiya High School, in the music department. She then received her undergraduate from Tokyo University of the Arts’ music department, and completed graduate school at the same university. She has won 1st place at the 9th Japan Wind and Percussion Competition, as well as 1st place in the 63rd Japan Music Competition. She has taken part in a variety of music festivals so far, including the Miyazaki International Music Festival. She is an active member of The Clarinet Ensemble and the Tokyo Mitaka Philharmonia as their principal player. She has participated in numerous recordings and has released CDs. She is also an instructor at the Toyota Youth Orchestra Camp. From 2002 to 2016, she was part of the New Japan Philharmonic orchestra as their second principal player. She is currently a professor at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, as well as a part-time lecturer at Musashino Academia Musicae and Nihon University College of Art. Next to her passion for teaching younger generations, she actively works as a soloist and chamber musician.
