Assistant Professor of Clarinet at Texas A&M University-Kingsville
An engaging and accomplished clarinetist, Dr. Andrea Vos-Rochefort regularly premieres new works in recital and at Clarinetfest and has performed with the Dayton Philharmonic, Richmond Symphony, Lima Orchestra, Carmel Symphony, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Lexington Philharmonic, West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony, Corpus Christi Symphony, Midland-Odessa Symphony, Victoria Symphony, and San Antonio Symphony. Andrea was recently appointed Assistant Professor of Clarinet at TexasA&M University-Kingsville and previously served as Instructor of Clarinet at University of Dayton and Stivers School for the Arts.
Dr. Vos-Rochefort has performed around the world in France, Italy, and the United States on stages including Avery Fisher Hall, Salle Cortot, Aronoff Center, and the historic Des Moines Capitol building as a soloist with the Des Moines Chamber Symphony. Chamber engagements have included Duo Cylindre with flutist Lizzy Darling, Plumeria Winds with Scott Pool and Rachel Messing, and CT:2 Duo with pianist Clare Longendyke throughout the US and abroad. Works have been written for her by Mack Lamont, Laura Harrison, Bradley Harris,Ellen Harrison, Mara Helmuth, Nathan Hudson, Andrey Rubtsov, Daniel Harrison, Steve Darling, Ricardo Lorenz, and Kerrith Livengood and she has been featured in recital and masterclass performances at Cincinnati Soundbox, University of Dayton, Miami University, Clarinetfests 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023, IDRS, Rio Winds Festival, Music in Bloom, Mozart in the Knobs, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Wright State University, University of Dayton, University of North Carolina-Greensboro, Penn State Unviersity, Austin Peay State University, and Boston University among others. She received her doctoral degree from Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music studying with Ben Freimuth, her master’s degree from Manhattan School of Music studying with Mark Nuccio, Diplômes Supérieurs in Clarinet and Chamber Music from L’Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris studying with Guy Deplus, and her bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College studying with Michael Galvan.
In addition to being an active performer and champion of new music, Andrea is a dedicated advocate of arts outreach and education and is passionate about engaging the public in unique and innovative ways. Andrea served in outreach roles as Artistic Director of Artalism Coalition and as Community Engagement and Education Manager with concert:nova. Andrea focused her doctoral research on interdisciplinary arts and creative synthesis and this research and curriculum writing has resulted in more than 70 performances of workshops based on national standards and using modern repertoire to engage students in Cincinnati Public Schools and benefiting over 1000 students from 2015–2018. She also implemented an initiative to commission new works based in STEAM curriculum introducing scientific, mathematical, engineering, or technology based concepts through music in high school classrooms.
