Artistic director of the Verdi Cambrense Philharmonic.Teacher of oboe at the Covilhã Conservatory of Music.Teacher of oboe, chamber music and wind orchestra at EPABI - Escola Profissional de Artes da Covilhã.

Born in Vila do Conde, he graduated from the Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional de Lisboa, under the guidance of Professor Lopes da Cruz, having also studied with Professors Santos Pinto and Ricardo Lopes, and later at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, in the class of Professor Andrew Swinnerton. He attended various training courses in Portugal and abroad. In 1988 he won 1st prize in the Portuguese Musical Youth Competition and 1st prize in the Young Portuguese Musicians Competition, which allowed him to perform as a concert pianist with the now defunct R.D.P. Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Silva Pereira.
He has performed with several orchestras, including the Music Schools Orchestra, the Portuguese Musical Youth Orchestra, the Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Lisbon Sinfonietta, the Chamber Orchestra and Symphonic Band of the National Republican Guard, and the National Youth Orchestra, as well as various ad hoc orchestras. In the 1989 season, he was a soloist with the Orchestre de Jeunes de la Méditerranée, under the direction of Maestro Michel Tabachnik, in France. He has regularly been a guest member of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Orchestra, S. Carlos National Theatre Orchestra, Nova Filarmonia Portuguesa, Orquestra Regie Sinfonia do Porto, Orquestra Clássica do Sul, and Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa. He has also been a guest conductor with the Macau Symphony Orchestra.
Throughout his career, he has performed in mainland Portugal, the Azores, Madeira, Spain, France, Luxembourg, Holland, Belgium, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, and Sweden. He has given numerous solo and chamber music recitals and attended conducting classes with conductor Jean-Sébastien Béreau. He was a soloist/choirmaster in the National Republican Guard Orchestra and Symphonic Band and served as artistic director at EPABI - Escola Profissional de Artes da Covilhã.
He has taught oboe at several institutions, including the Coimbra Conservatory of Music, the Almada Academy of Music, the Castelo Branco Regional Conservatory, the Collegium Musicum in Seia, the Lisbon Metropolitan Conservatory of Music, the University of Évora, the Nossa Senhora do Cabo Music School (Linda-a-Velha), the D. Dinis Conservatory of Music, and the S. José Conservatory of Music in Guarda. He has also been frequently invited to join various Portuguese orchestras and has given training courses and masterclasses across the country. Additionally, he has conducted workshops, internships, and festivals for youth orchestras and has served as a jury member in several competitions.
He is the founder and director of the Ensemble Palhetas Duplas and the conductor/artistic director of the Verdi Cambrense Philharmonic. In 2023, he released a CD entitled Oboe Miscellanies.
Currently, he teaches oboe, chamber music, and wind orchestra at EPABI - Escola Profissional de Artes da Covilhã and at the Covilhã Conservatory of Music.
