Principal Bass Clarinet at Orchestre National de l'Opéra de Paris, Professor at the CRR of Paris
Solo bass clarinetist of the Orchester de l'Opéra National de Paris (since 2009), Vincent Penot is the guest of prestigious orchestras: Philharmonie de St Petersburg, Orchester de Paris, National de France, Capitole de Toulouse, under the direction masters Dudamel, Salonen, Boulez, Abbado, Prêtre, Conlon, Jordan….
He entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in 2003, in the class of Michel Arrignon, where he obtained the first prize unanimously in 2006, first named with the special Léon Leblanc prize, then returned to further training in the class of David Walter with whom he notably studied the style of the French baroque, and at the same time in the bass clarinet class of Jean-noël Crocq from which he also won the first prize.
He won several prizes in various international competitions, among others the prestigious: International Karl Nielsen Competition in Odense and National Claude Debussy Competition in Paris. At the same time, at the age of 22, he became solo clarinetist with the Pasdeloup orchestra, as well as the Orchesters de la Garde Républicaine.
Since 2013, Vincent Penot has been teaching clarinet and bass clarinet, first at Pole sup' 93, then at the CRR de Boulogne-Billancourt and now at the CRR de Paris, where he is committed to developing the repertoire for the bass clarinet, through transcriptions, or commissions from composers of his time.
He has notably published 3 collections, which have met with great success around the world: "Classics of the bass clarinet", as well as having published several works written for him on the site clarinetedition.fr
Vincent Penot is also passionate about chamber music, and performs regularly at festivals in France and abroad. he has played with brilliant chamber musicians such as Tatjana Vassiljeva, Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, Vladimir Mendelssohn, Jan Talich, Paul Meyer, Maurice Bourgue, David Walter, Marina Chiche, Petteri Iivonen, Aurélien Sabouret, the Talich Quartet, Ludwig, Akos…
Recently, he premiered the concerto for bassoon and orchestra by André Jolivet, in its version for bass clarinet (performed by him), in the prestigious Salle de la Seine Musicale. And at the same time, he regularly records his transcriptions in collaboration with the Vandoren house, which broadcasts them on video on the internet, in order to contribute to the discovery of the repertoire and of this magnificent instrument: the bass clarinet, an instrument which has its place as a soloist.
Recently, Vincent Penot has been a tester for Buffet-Crampon, a prestigious collaboration where he participates in the development of clarinets, basset horns and bass clarinets and contributes to the influence of the French school throughout the world.
